On the positive side, the owners, Brendan and Ellie, earn consistent praise for their warmth and willingness to help, and the dark skies make for spectacular stargazing. Guests can pitch anywhere they like, either with electric hookups or without, which adds a welcome sense of freedom. The village of Stanton lies just five to ten minutes away on foot, offering a pub, a chip shop, a small shop, a Post Office, and a larger Co-op for supplies. Free WiFi works brilliantly across the site, and mobile reception is generally strong. Children have plenty of safe space to run around, and dogs are allowed. However, the grass can be rough, with weeds and thistles, and the ground turns extremely muddy and slippery after rain, making access tricky. The entrance is narrow and easy to miss, a real challenge for larger vehicles. Facilities are a work in progress: the 2025 season saw clean, warm showers and toilets, but the 2026 season brought complaints of dumped caravans, trash, and unclean washing areas. Some guests were so disappointed by the gap between online photos and reality that they left immediately and asked for refunds. Showers and toilets receive mixed marks—some find them perfectly usable, others call them unsatisfactory. Overall, the experience depends heavily on the weather and which pitch you are given, with many visitors vowing to return only in better conditions.
