Barbana Lipizzans Camper Park
Nestled on a quiet horse farm, this small campsite offers a surprisingly serene escape on flat gravel pitches. The hosts are exceptionally warm and attentive, often going out of their way to help guests, even during late check-ins. A nightly campfire fosters a wonderful community spirit and adds a unique charm. The site's integration with a Lipizzan horse farm is a standout feature, with horses grazing right in the middle of the grounds for a truly magical setting. The sanitary facilities are repeatedly praised for being spotlessly clean, modern, and well-maintained. An outdoor kitchen with gas hobs and seating is perfect for meal prep, and fresh bread can be ordered each morning except Sunday. A small shop stocks local products and camping essentials. The location is ideal for exploring, with Lake Bled a short drive or bike ride away and a train station just a five-minute walk for trips to Ljubljana. A hidden swimming beach on the Sava River is about 1.5 kilometers away, with plenty of hiking and cycling routes nearby. Evenings are social around the fire pit, with comfortable seating and horses to pet. The campsite is notably dog-friendly and has clean, organized waste disposal. However, there are significant drawbacks. The number of toilets and showers is insufficient, especially for men, leading to queues at peak times. The access road is very steep and narrow, challenging for large vehicles, especially when wet, though an alternative exit exists. Pitches can be small, muddy, or sloped in places. Highway noise is audible and may disturb light sleepers. There is no laundry on site, and the WiFi signal is reported as weak. The excellent local restaurant is often fully booked and requires early reservations. This charming, family-run retreat charms with its horse-themed atmosphere and friendly service, but guests should prepare for limited toilet facilities, potential noise, and the tricky access road.
