Perched on the rolling hills of Perranporth, Cornwall, Anchor Barrow Campsite delivers an exceptional camping experience with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The location is wonderfully convenient, combining a short walk or bus ride to the golden sands of Perranporth beach with a bus stop right at the entrance. Facilities are nothing short of outstanding, especially the newly renovated shower and toilet blocks, which guests consistently describe as among the cleanest and best they have ever encountered on a campsite, offering powerful hot water, large shower heads, and excellent pressure. Additional conveniences include well-equipped washing-up areas, a laundry room, a freezer for ice packs, a microwave, and plenty of plug sockets for charging devices. The on-site bar, restaurant, and shop are major highlights, serving hearty breakfast baps, delicious evening street food, local drinks, and well-regarded vegan and gluten-free options at reasonable prices. Evening entertainment is a standout feature, with live music, themed feast nights, a wildly popular silent disco, and open mic sessions that create a lively, festival-like atmosphere without excessive noise. A large indoor barn provides a cozy shelter for games and communal seating when the weather turns, while separate sports and secure dog exercise fields add to the fun. The atmosphere is relaxed, family-friendly, and dog-friendly, with plenty of room for children to explore and pets to run off-lead in a designated field. Pitches are spacious with lovely views, though they are set on grass that can be stony and sloped, making peg-driving challenging, and the open, exposed site can get quite windy. The site enjoys excellent mobile signal, making WiFi unnecessary, and electric hookups are available but book up quickly. The staff are near-universally praised for their warmth, helpfulness, and efficiency, often taking time to personally show new arrivals around and answer questions. While the footpath to the beach can be overgrown and the steep hill back from town tiring, the exceptional amenities, delicious food, and laid-back vibe create an irresistible combination. Most visitors leave already planning their return, with many calling this the best campsite they have ever visited.
